I am a Reader in Mathematics Education at Loughborough University, where I
collaborate with colleagues, PhD students and project students to conduct research on mathematical thinking and learning. I am Head of the Mathematics Education Centre, which specialises in research on mathematical cognition and issues of culture, pedagogy and identity.
I teach undergraduate mathematics and have won local and national teaching awards. I give talks for mathematicians about research in mathematics education and about lecturing, and have co-written a book for mathematicians. I have written two research-informed books offering study guidance for mathematics students. My book for a general audience, entitled Mathematics Rebooted, was published in October 2017.
